The place has very little lighting which makes it hard to see in the bedrooms and kitchen. We paid for a late checkout which was not communicated with housekeeping and they were knocking on the door wondering why we were still there. Other than those minor inconveniences we enjoyed our stay Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback—we’re glad to hear you enjoyed the clean unit, convenient location, and spending time at the pools during higher surf days. We sincerely apologize for the issues you experienced with the lighting and, more importantly, the late checkout miscommunication. That should not have happened, especially after you arranged and paid for a late checkout. We’ve addressed this internally to ensure housekeeping is clearly notified going forward so future guests don’t experience the same disruption. We truly appreciate you highlighting both the positives and the areas for improvement, and we’re happy to hear that overall you still enjoyed your stay. We hope to have the opportunity to host you again and provide an even smoother experience next time. Mahalo! Kona Coast Resort is a favorite of ours we have enjoyed for last 20 years! This is a very nice unit with AC and noce master bedroom. View of green is nice and five minute walk to the beach to watch sunsets. Great location, beautiful views, great amenities, spacious rooms with big deck, so very comfortable. We were so excited to have such a great space for the week. Lucky enough to have some boogie boards and beach equipment. They thought of everything. it was apparent that no one had been in the place for a while as evideced by the 2 1/2" long dead cockroaches laying on the floor around the place. Also, I paid extra for air conditioning. You may want to consider turning it on for guests so the place is cool when they arrive, as hotels do. The place was about 100 degrees inside when we got there and it took half the night to get it cooled down.Overall not a great experience. Thank you for your feedback. We’d like to clarify a couple of points for future guests. Our property had a renter check out just prior to your arrival, so it’s not the case that the unit sat empty. We also perform regular professional pest control treatments to ensure our units remain comfortable, and what you encountered appears to have been an isolated incident. Regarding the air conditioning, we do not pre-cool units before arrival because leaving the system running for extended periods can cause the unit to freeze over and malfunction. Additionally, electricity costs in Hawaii are among the highest in the nation, and we want to keep expenses reasonable for our guests. Rest assured, the AC works properly when used during your stay. We appreciate your comments and will continue to look for ways to balance guest comfort with responsible property care. Great stay once again at Kona Coast Resort. Love the fact we have 2 pool choices, 1 quiet pool for a Lazy day of reading or the pool by the on-site restaurant with music and a special pool for young children. Beautiful sunsets, live music at restaurant/bar, on-site work out facilities and walking paths. Close to shopping, restaurants at Keauhou
