Stay in a rare little piece of Glenelg history. Built in 1876, this two storey bluestone heritage house was originally home of H.D Gell, Mayor of Glenelg. Perfect for singles or couples, this cosy balcony room with double wrought iron bed has recently been restored to some of it's former glory, and styled with a mixture of original and modern furnishings. We now have FREE WIFI! The "Baroness" room is located on the top (first) floor, accessed via stairs inside main house. The property is located on Sussex Street just 300 metres off the main stretch, so you can walk to everything you will need during your stay. There is also a large reserve just 250 metres away. Although this end of Sussex street is relatively quiet, Glenelg can get quite busy at certain times, particularly during the summer months. So there can be some noise at times from pedestrians walking back at night or when events have been on in the surrounding areas. A small trade off for staying in the thick of it, but generally speaking, it's cosy and quiet the majority of the time. Please ensure you list the correct amount of persons in your booking requests because this ensures you get enough towels included for each guest. Due to the shared access of the bathrooms and common areas, and also the close proximity of the bedrooms, this property is not suitable for small children or infants, or for any self isolation purposes. Being an old heritage house, the stairs are also very steep, including between the room to the bathroom, so we do not recommend the property for elderly or physically impaired individuals. The street parking is all free but does have a 3 hour time limit between 9am-6pm daily. Overnight there are no restrictions and parking is usually readily available at these times. We do have a long off street driveway on the property also which guests can arrange to use during your stay if required. Please chat to us before you arrive about guidelines for shared use. For extended stays over 30+ nights, mid-stay or fortnightly servicing is required for the upkeep of the property.
