9. Never Charge You, and Never Pretend to Be the Middleman

CielStay is free for guests — permanently. No booking fee, no service fee, no subscription, no fee folded into the nightly rate. You can search, save, and message the host of any property with a free account. Hosts pay us a flat annual fee for the tools they use; you pay us nothing, and no amount of money moves a property up your results.

We should be equally clear about what that means. CielStay never handles your payment. When you book through Airbnb, VRBO, or Booking.com from a link here, you're protected by that platform's terms. When you arrange a stay directly with a host — especially a monthly or long-term one — you're dealing with that host directly, and the agreement is between the two of you.

So take the ordinary precautions you'd take with any private rental: read the agreement before you sign it, ask for proof of ownership if a lease or a large deposit is involved, and be wary of anyone who won't put terms in writing. Our badges tell you what we actually checked — Verified Owner means we confirmed control of the property's booking listing, not that we've vetted the person — and we'd rather tell you the limits of that than let it sound like a guarantee.
