Cabin with Pikes Views, Fireplace, Walk to Winery
About the Home
Welcome to Cozinook, a beautiful 100-year-old cabin perched on the edge of a neighborhood in quaint Cascade on the famed Pikes Peak. You'll enjoy breathtaking views and hiking out the front door. Watch hawks circle above the Cascade canyon from the cabin's back patio, gather around a roaring fire in the original masonry fireplace for games or a movie, or retreat to the hammock. Ideal for romantic getaways, quiet retreats, small get togethers, and as a base for all your Rocky Mountain adventures. Cozinook backs to incredible views of forested mountain ridges and rock formations on two sides, and has neighboring homes on the other two sides. The cabin has a one-of-a-kind personality among vacation rentals, with its charming and rustic originality, updated and expanded uniquely throughout the years for space, comfort and convenience. Fluffy blankets are available throughout, so the cabin will live up to its name, and for those wanting to catch some extra Zs, curtains throughout are light blocking. The eclectic western decor, much of it historic itself, pays homage to the history of our area including the original Ute inhabitants, railroads of the early 1900s, and others who have come to enjoy its beauty throughout the years. LOWER LEVEL | KITCHEN & DINING ROOM, FLAGSTONE DINING PATIO + As you approach the cabin you'll be welcomed by a lovely flagstone and rock patio with cafe lights sparkling overhead, a giant granite boulder as a backdrop, and mountain views beyond. A picnic table, gas grill with an extra propane tank and grilling tools are provided. + Walk in the front door and you'll find yourself on the lower of three stories. The kitchen includes custom handcrafted wood cabinetry, gas stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, wood countertops, and abundant warm lighting. You'll find cookware, dishes, crock pot, blender, and all you need to cook delicious meals. We provide a few coffee options, including a Keurig (upstairs in the sunroom), a french press, and a traditional coffee maker. Yes, whole-bean lovers, we have a grinder. We even provide some freshly roasted local beans as a welcome treat! + The dining room has an acacia table and ample seating for six, with forest views outside the original picture windows. MIDDLE LEVEL | TWO BEDROOMS, LIVING ROOM, SUNROOM & BACK PATIO + Ascend the stairs to the living room with giant original masonry fireplace, plush leather couches and a vintage wooden rocker. Stream video on a flat screen TV with Roku. + The Canyon View Bedroom (#1) features breathtaking views to the west and a Native theme. Please keep in mind there is not an attached bath. + The Forest View Bedroom (#2) features views of Douglas fir trees, home to birds and squirrels. Please keep in mind there is not an attached bath. + The sunroom has enormous picture windows and its own entrance with a small deck, the perfect place to sneak away to read a book, get some work done at the laptop-friendly writing desk, or simply enjoy a cuppa tea or coffee with the provided Keurig and kettle. An assortment of teas are also provided for your enjoyment. Open the windows for fresh Colorado air, or close them and watch rain or snow fall in the rockies from the comfort of the great indoors! A washer and dryer are cleverly hidden in the sun room's custom cabinetry. Books and games can be found on the shelves. + The full bathroom features a beautiful historic claw-foot tub, copper sink, and a walk-in shower with dual shower heads including rain shower. + Relax on the back patio and take in the breathtaking views of the Cascade Canyon, listen to the rushing creek, and watch for wildlife visitors. Solar lights provide gentle downward lighting as the evening grows dark, should you want to enjoy a nightcap or a stargazing session on a clear night! You won't want to leave. UPPER LEVEL | UPSTAIRS LOFT BEDROOM, HALF BATH, HAMMOCK DECK + Ascend the spiral staircase to the ample loft bedroom with two comfortable full beds, an additional television with Roku, and an insta-worthy boho reading nook with stunning views of the cascade canyon to the West. The other window overlooks the dining patio. + A half-bath with toilet and sink is attached. + Walk out to the private upper deck to commune with nature, relaxing at the cafe set or in the hammock! No one will find you! Cozinook is located in a peaceful, full-time residential neighborhood in Cascade. There are neighbors on both sides, but lots of unobstructed wilderness views! There is a park, a creek, and several trails in the neighborhood (see our physical guidebook in the cabin for pointers). Enjoy a wine tasting and dinner by the creek at local favorite restaurant, The Wines of Colorado, just a quick walk down the street. The entrance to the Pikes Peak highway is just a mile away from the cabin. You can be eating lunch at the brand-new Summit House in less than an hour! + As with most houses in this high altitude canyon, Cozinook does not have AC. Most of the house stays nice and cool even in summer, but we do provide fans, especially for the upstairs loft bedroom which does tend to get a little hot in the middle of the day during the warmer parts of summer. We suggest opening the windows on either side for a cross-breeze and running fans as needed. This part of Colorado cools off wonderfully at night so please feel free to leave windows open to cool the house down while you sleep. As a bonus you'll probably be able to hear the nearby creek flowing. + Sleep in peace on super soft linens which were laundered in a professional facility to ensure the highest possible amount of viruses and bacteria are utterly destroyed. + The cabin is three stories and nearly 100 years old. It will feel like a 100 year old cabin's old school layout, including some narrow and interesting architecture. Most of our guests find this adds to the charm. + Cozinook is full of stairs and original wood flooring inside and out, which due to their age are both beautiful, creaky, and uneven/inconsistent. + From the upper parking spot, some uneven terrain and a handful of steps up will get you to the front door. From the lower parking area to the front door there are about 30 stone steps with natural terrain in between. Indoors there are stairs between the kitchen/dining and the main level, plus a spiral staircase to the loft bedroom and hammock deck. Please consider whether this is the right space for you if you have mobility concerns or simply don't want to get your steps in! + Some elements of the cabin could make it unsuitable for those traveling with young children. There are several enormous boulders and steep drop-offs, a dry stack rock wall on the back patio, and the wood-burning fireplace, cactus, and resident wildlife. + Sorry, but weddings, commercial photo/video shoots, and similar events are not allowed at Cozinook. The house is too old and parking too limited to accomodate such events. Please reach out to us if you need help finding a venue for your event. + We are at 7500 ft elevation, so please plan for potential snow from mid-October until mid-May. Our steep but short gravel driveway is located on a sharp curve and may develop ruts after a rain fall or snowmelt, so a good AWD/4WD vehicle will help ease your access to the cabin during such weather. + We provide snow removal services for more than 2" accumulation. For less then 2" guests are welcome to use the provided snow shovel and sand for traction. + Depending on your provider you may experience limited or no cell-reception at the cabin. We do provide 5G T-Mobile Wifi that is sufficient for streaming video, but will not blow you away with speed, particularly with multiple devices running. + Absolutely no outdoor fires allowed. There are frequent fire bans and high fire danger, so please protect our wilderness. You may smoke outdoors when local fire regulations allow, but please take care to ash only in the receptacles provided and to completely extinguish all butts. + Please be aware that we share our land with bears, raccoons, and other critters. They are opportunists! Please do not leave trash or food outside or in your car. We have provided bins in a storage room behind the house where you may keep bagged trash. We'll remove it for you upon checkout. + We reserve the right to collect ID directly from our guests before allowing access to the property. This is in addition to identification you may be asked to provide to the booking platform. + Absolutely no pets are allowed. + Our team sets out linens appropriate to the number of people on your reservation so please make sure your reservation accurately reflects the number in your party. Be aware that we charge a $30/night fee for additional guests after 4. + Check in is at 5pm and check out time is by 10am. We do our best to accommodate early check in and/or late check out requests. We offer these based upon our housekeeping team's approval as their schedule can be demanding and for an additional fee. Please note, the earliest check in time available is 2pm and the latest checkout time we can accommodate is noon. + The house feels private, but is in a mountain neighborhood. You may see and hear our wonderful neighbors, and please be ready to be considerate and neighborly with them as well. Quiet hours after 10pm.
