Welcome to The Founder, an iconic hand-built cabin crafted by the founder of the Rockhouse Restaurant. Tucked on private property, this cabin pairs historic character with modern touches—1800s barn beams, a chef’s kitchen, a wood-burning stove, and an expansive wraparound deck. Enjoy the hot tub, fire pit, fast Wi-Fi, and full privacy—all just minutes from the best of the Red River Gorge. PLEASE NOTE: the cabin is reached by a very steep set of steps and is not suitable for guests with mobility limitations. Inside, the main level features an open-concept living area with a real wood-burning stove, plush seating, and a chef’s kitchen equipped with a commercial gas range, quality cookware, luxury knives, and bar seating for four. This floor also includes a full bathroom with a walk-in shower, double vanity, bidet, and washer/dryer. Sleeping options include a queen bedroom, a king bedroom, and a cozy twin bunk room accessible only through the king room. Upstairs, a lofted lounge offers oversized couches and a smart TV for movie nights. Outdoors, a massive covered deck wraps around the cabin, providing space to grill on the propane BBQ (propane supplied), relax on the outdoor seating, or take in the forest views. The uncovered hot tub sits just off the deck, while the firepit—perfect for stargazing evenings—awaits below (guests provide firewood). This cabin blends history, comfort, and seclusion for an unforgettable Gorge stay. This cabin is very centrally located to many attractions in the RRG and walking distance to the Rockhouse Restaurant! RRG Getaways supplies a starter amount of the following: hand soap, paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, dish soap, dish pods, laundry pods, and basic cleaning supplies. Any additional items needed will be the guest's responsibility to supply. We do not supply anything considered perishable or consumable, this includes but is not limited to, coffee, salt, pepper, oil and the like. - This beautiful cabin has a short but VERY steep gravel pathway and steps going up to the home. - There is a Keurig coffee maker and guests are asked to provide their own K-Cups. - Pets are allowed at this cabin. We charge a flat pet fee of $50 for up to two pets. Please be sure to add any pets to your reservation. If you do not see where to do so, reach out to us so we can apply our pet fee.
