PLUS hiking in the Shenandoah National Park is available from the cabin. A waterfall with natural pools is less than a 20 minute hike from the house! Wildlife is commonly seen. And at an elevation of 1,800 feet, even summer is comfortable. Skyline Drive and Luray caverns are close by, and Washington DC is only 90 miles away. Also nearby is the Shendandoah River - one of the most beautiful features of the area. Lots of opportunity for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and floating the river. Luray is less than 10 miles away and Front Royal is also nearby. So even though you'll feel like you're in the wilderness, you're still close to restaurants, quaint shopping and wineries. This is a must see experience! ROAD AND VEHICLE: While the cabin is accessible for a normal car, we HIGHLY recommend a higher clearance vehicle like an SUV. Subaru's and RAV4's are common, but many other vehicles are also on the mountain. We offer an SUV (free of charge) to guests who prefer to use it for the final mile to the cabin.
