Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe sits at 6,225 feet on the California-Nevada state line — a 22-mile-long alpine lake of exceptional clarity, with a Secchi disk visible at roughly 60 to 70 feet. More than a dozen ski areas lie within about an hour, and there are 72 miles of shoreline with public beaches and private waterfront. This guide covers the North Shore and Truckee, South Lake Tahoe and Stateline, and the West Shore, plus the reservation and parking rules that catch visitors out.
