Floors may creak, sound carries more than it would in a concrete-block home, and in humid months doors and windows can stick a little as the wood swells. Wood buildings can also pick up a faint earthy or "cabin" smell after rain. We clean thoroughly between every stay and keep the AC and dehumidifier running, but please know this is a small, characterful home, not new construction. Florida living This is South Florida. From roughly May through October it's hot, humid, and rainy, and that humidity finds its way indoors no matter what. Keeping windows and doors closed and the AC running helps a lot. Bugs are also part of life here: you may see the occasional lizard, ant, or palmetto bug (a large Florida cockroach), especially after heavy rain. The property is treated by a pest control service on a regular schedule, and if anything bothers you during your stay, message us and we'll take care of it.
