About the Home

The Pinecone Treehouse is a space created to tap into your higher self, a space to rediscover your inner calm. Cradled by those living giants the California Redwoods, one is invited to live in the vision of their dreams, to quiet the mind until they can hear their inner truths, to reestablish a connection with nature and self. Our greatest hope is for guests of the Pinecone Treehouse to leave refreshed, inspired, reconnected, and recommitted to themselves, their dreams, and to this beautiful home that we call Mother Earth. This treehouse experience is an Adventure! and an experience you will sure be sharing with all of your friends, however it is not for the faint of heart. The treehouse sits 35' above ground on the uphill side and almost 60' from the ground on the downhill side. With two triangle shaped see through floor panels this treehouse makes one feel as though they are flying through the upper Redwood canopy. Entry and exit from the treehouse requires a bit of effort to ascend and descend the steep alternating step entry ladder as well as to pass through the trap door. **Note: Our bathroom is woodsy! We do have running water for the sink and shower, however, we do not have a plumbed toilet - we have a compostable one! It is quite simple to use. Bonus is that you get a beautiful view of the forest from where you sit :)

Good to know

The treehouse because of its full surround windows can get a bit chilly at night. Additional blankets are provided in the treehouse should they be needed. Make sure to bring warm clothing like long johns, wool socks, and a winter hat in case needed. Also don't forget to bring a small bag that will allow for easier access of your necessary items to bring up into the treehouse.

The Neighborhood

We are located in the mountains of Bonny Doon within a 15 minute drive from Downtown Santa Cruz, beautiful beaches and local hiking/ mountain biking trails.

Guest Access

Guests will be able to access this single room treehouse accommodation which hangs 35' above the forest floor. The structure is accessed via a 30' - 60 degree alternating step access ladder. The bathroom, which is located at ground level in a mini treehouse structure, includes a hot shower, composting toilet and sink. Guests must descend the treehouse ladder to ground level and continue on the catwalk bridge in order to access the bathroom. It's worth the journey, as here guests can enjoy a shower with sweeping views of the forest canopy. That being said if you require quick access to a bathroom, this might not be the rental for you. Its recommended that guests keep larger hard-case roll bags in the bathroom or car (parking near by) and bring a backpack to more easily bring items in and out of the treehouse. The steep entry ladder and trap door entry make it much easier to manage with a small back pack vs a large suitcase.
