About the Home

Inside, the holiday home feels light and relaxed – a peaceful place to return to after a day by the sea. The property sleeps five people and has two bedrooms. One bedroom has a comfortable double bed and the other has two single beds. Both bedrooms have plenty of storage space. There is also a 130/140 cm bed on the landing upstairs, which can be used as an extra bed. There is one bathroom on the ground floor, and there is also a separate toilet upstairs. Outside, you’ll find plenty of greenery and space: you can look out over the trees and hear the birds, whilst the cycle path is nearby for a ride through the dunes. Right outside the front door, there’s a playground for the little ones, and a little further on you’ll find a table tennis table where you can play a game together. You can reach the beach on foot, without any detours, making it easy to alternate between a morning walk, an afternoon with sand between your toes and an early evening back home.

Good to know

From Valkenisseweg walk straight to the beach at Groot Valkenisse. Take the long stairs to the dune top between Zoutelande and Dishoek for wide views over the sea and passing ships at sunset. Visit Bunkermuseum Zoutelande and then walk the dune path past the restored bunkers of the Atlantikwall. The short route with information boards gives context to what you see along the way. Grab a table at Restaurant De Meerpaal in Zoutelande; in mussel season choose a pot of Zeeland mussels. Finish with a bolus from Bakkerij Koppejan around the corner.

The Neighborhood

Valkenisseweg 110 sits in Biggekerke on Walcheren, with the dunes and beach within walking distance. You look out at trees. The cycle path runs nearby, there’s play equipment for little ones by the door, and a ping-pong table a bit further on. This is a great base for beach days and walks over the high dunes between Dishoek and Zoutelande. Cycle the coastal path to Zoutelande, about 3 km, or to Vlissingen with its boulevard, around 7 km. Inland you’re soon in Middelburg with the Abdij and shops, about 7 km. Westkapelle with the lighthouse is around 8 km. At Veere on the Veerse Meer, about 12 km, you can sail or SUP. Towards Oostkapelle you’ll find De Manteling and Oranjezon; at Kasteel Westhove you’ll find museum Terra Maris. For these nature areas, count on roughly 12 to 15 km.
