If it snows more than several inches, look for snow removal signs to make sure you don't violate any temporary parking rules The Governor's Mansion was once the home of former Governor Jesse McDonald and is centrally located in Leadville's National Historic Landmark District. Part of this house was built in 1881, with the mansion portion completed in 1893. Former Governor, Jesse McDonald, who sought and found his fortune in Leadville, built this big house to entertain guests as they travelled through town. Staying in the mountains offers a unique and nature-immersed experience, characterized by a rustic charm. You might occasionally encounter some of the local wildlife, insects, and small critters that are part of the natural surroundings. We recommend keeping doors securely closed whenever possible. Rest assured, we've implemented thorough measures to ensure your stay remains undisturbed by these natural inhabitants. Altitude sickness is real. In Leadville/ Twin Lakes, the elevation can be up to 10,000 feet. Symptoms can include dizziness and nausea, so please be mindful of this. We cannot offer refunds for guests experiencing altitude sickness. If you anticipate being affected, we recommend obtaining insurance at the time of booking.
