Hanalei Colony Resort J3 is a tranquil, off-the-beaten-path retreat on Kauais far North Shore, perfect for those seeking a peaceful escape surrounded by natural beauty! This charming, vintage-style condo features two bedrooms, with the option to use the second bedroom to sleep a third guest or as a remote office, a fully appointed kitchen, and a light-filled living and dining area that opens to breathtaking ocean views. Youll find another sleeper sofa in the living room, allowing you to comfortably accommodate up to four guests. The shaded balcony lanai offers outdoor seating for 2, and the perfect spot to take in an island sunrise with your morning coffee! Please note, the bedrooms are separated from the main living space by sliding shoji screens, offering visual privacy but not soundproofing. The amenities at Hanalei Colony Resort make this the perfect spot for a slow-paced vacation. Walk just a few steps and youre right on a warm, sandy beach away from any crowds! You can walk along the golden sands until you come to the end of the road at Kee Beach, or you can spend a day by the pool and hot tub, lounging in the sun and grilling in the outdoor kitchen. If you need to truly unwind and pamper yourself, the Hanalei Day Spa is just across the parking lot and offers some incredible services (can you say beachside couples massage?). Youll also find the Gaia restaurant on site for some tasty seaside bites, as well as the Na Pali Art Gallery & Coffee Shop where you can peruse beautiful local art and jewelry while enjoying a morning brew. For those of us that like to get out and about, Hanalei Colony Resort is still close to many attractions. Take a quick 15 minute drive and youre in the heart of Hanalei town, with its charming boutiques, restaurants, and cafes. Grab a bite to eat or a shave ice before heading to the iconic beaches of Hanalei Bay for the day. Tunnels Beach, perfect for snorkeling, is only 3 minutes away driving, or 20 minutes on foot if you prefer to hoof it. Haena Beach is just another 3 minutes down the road, and is a hidden gem with pristine waters and incredible sunsets. Youre also just 10 minutes away from the Limahuli Gardens & Preserve, which offer an introduction into native Hawaiian culture and its ties to the natural landscape, against a backdrop of dramatic mountains and the Pacific Ocean. For any basic grocery needs, as well as delicious sandwiches, acai bowls, coffee, and shave ice, head 3 minutes down the road to the Wainiha Country Market. Youll also find a lovely selection of local goodies you wont be able to resist! Please note that Hanalei Colony Resort was built in simpler times in a more remote location. The resort was designed with the untouched environment as the main draw, and does not offer all the luxuries of modern resorts. There is no dishwasher and no TV in the unit (although there is Wi-Fi), and it takes longer to access the rest of the island. Drive time to Princeville and Kilauea is roughly 30 minutes, to the East Side (where the airport is) is 70 minutes, and to the South Shore is over 90 minutes. We highly recommend renting a car, as third party guests are unfortunately NOT able to use the resort shuttle services. We do, however, encourage guests to take advantage of the North Shore Shuttle, which services locations such as the Wainiha Country Market, Limahuli Gardens, and Haena State Park. The shuttle will pick you up right in the parking lot of Hanalei Colony Resort (super convenient!), and advance reservations are required. This is an upstairs unit. You must be able to go up and down 2.5 flights of stairs (roughly 25 steps) to access the unit. There are no elevators. As with most homes on Kauai, this vacation rental is NOT air conditioned, however there are ceiling fans in each space to help with air flow. Although this home has internet, the speed and reliability cannot be guaranteed due to the remote location and the service being provided by a third-party.
